Huiros are important to the indigenous music of the Andes & are traditional Percussion instruments from the Andes. They have a rich pre-Colombian tradition. Huiros have parallel crevices along the top which are scratched back & forth with a metal fork or wood stick to make a rhythm. This unique instrument is a hybrid between and Hurio and a Rainstick, but also can be shaken like a maraca.
